Hi Team,

Before our meeting today, please give a bit of thought about effective
ways of communicating environmental health to the community.

Here are a few of the strongest (in my opinion) techniques:

Letter grades

Word assessments (very good, good, needs improvement, poor/degraded)

Colors (green=healthy to red=degraded)

The Watershed Info Center & Conservancy of Napa County Board of
Directors has asserted that they DO NOT find letter grades to be
appropriate/useful. This group is an important audience, so we must
consider their opinion carefully.

We will discuss this topic during our meeting this afternoon. (For those
not attending, I welcome you to email me your thoughts)

Subject: [Scorecard] Producing the Scorecard

Hello Project Team,

Frances and I have worked out a plan for producing the Scorecard and
associated products. We will be asking your help in a carefully
scheduled sequence of discussions and assignments in order to stay
within our project timeline. Please review the Project Tasks and
Timelines, linked to the website
(http://sfcommons.net/hosted-groups/scorecard)

These things are happening rapidly in the next three weeks:
- Frances will send out the draft Scorecard this week
- Conference call to make decisions on scoring-methods and graphics:
Thursday PM or Friday- I will send out a Doodle notice to determine a
good time for all. We will assign a lead on the scoring of each of the
three main indices.
- Leads will provide draft indicator status scores, trends, and a
one-to-two sentence summary of the basis for them by Aug 1. These will
be plugged into the Scorecard.
- There will be an in-person meeting scheduled in August to:
        - discuss look and feel
        - come up with grades for each index and decide whether to use a
straight average of the indicators or weighted averages.

After that there will be emails getting you started writing your parts
of the technical reports, so we must all be on board with our scoring
and graphic decisions.

Another urgent message to project managers: YOU MUST INVOICE at end of
July. We have not had invoices from some of you for many moons and this
is an important time to check our balances.

Thank you, and please watch for the Doodle emails and respond promptly!

Deanne
