How to get to the Sonoma Ecology Center’s Watershed Station

The Watershed Station is located on the Sonoma Development Center (SDC) campus, which is in Eldridge, CA just a bit south of Glen Ellen in the northern part of Sonoma Valley.  Our street address isn't sufficient for finding us (15000 Arnold Drive is the whole campus), so here are better directions.

From the South

  • Highway 37 (from Highway 101 or 80) to Highway 121 at Sears Point.
  • Turn north onto Hwy 121. (left if from Novato, right if from Vallejo)
  • ~ 5 miles to Hwy 116 junction, STAY LEFT, continuing straight to the stop sign at junction (Hwy 121 bends to the right).
  • ~ 1.5 miles to the Arnold Drive/Glen Ellen turnoff. Take the RIGHT FORK onto Arnold Dr. where 116 veers left toward Petaluma. If you miss the turnoff, take the very next right onto Watmaugh Drive just around the bend.
  • ~ 6 miles on Arnold Dr. to Sonoma Developmental Center, passing Boyes Blvd., then Madrone Rd., then to the second stop sign at Harney.
  • Turn right onto Harney Drive, opposite the stone columned entrance to SDC’S Admin Building.
  • Proceed as described below

From Davis

  • Interstate 80 west, Hwy 12 Napa/Sonoma Exit. Go west to the end
  • Bear right at Hwy 12 W/Hwy 29 N - go 3.9 mi
  • Turn left at Hwy12/Hwy 121 - go 5.1 mi
  • Bear right onto Napa Rd at Stornetta’s Corner just before the traffic light- go 4.2 mi
  • Continue straight onto Leveroni Rd - go 1.8 mi
  • Turn right at Arnold Dr.
  • Proceed approximately 6 miles to the Sonoma Developmental Center in Eldridge.
  • Turn right onto Harney Drive, opposite the stone columned entrance to SDC’S Admin Building.
  • Proceed as described below

From Santa Rosa

  • South on Hwy 12, 3 miles south of Kenwood, TURN RIGHT onto Arnold Dr. (follow signs for Glen Ellen). Be careful, it’s a dangerous turn.
  • ~ 2 miles on Arnold Drive through Glen Ellen, across trestle bridge to Sonoma Developmental Center (SDC).
  • Turn left onto Harney Drive, opposite the stone columned entrance to SDC’S Admin Building.
  • Proceed as described below

Final Approach

The speed limit is 25 mph within SDC and they enforce it.
